I am not sure what a gen pool is.
Perhaps you are referring to a gene pool?
This is set of possible genes that exist within a species and is available to offspring.
Different young of a species will inherit different genes from the parents due to the way that reproduction works and the genes that are out there and possible to inherit for a species are known as the gene pool, the combination of all the genes or units of heredity for that species.
