What classes of nutrients yield the highest amount of energy per gram when completely catabolized?

Fats are notoriously high in energy.
This is why we store it in case there are times when food is not so plentiful as was the case for most of human history. And hence why many sea creatures have lots of fat or blubber as they can derive energy to keep them going for long periods without eating.
