Whats the best way to clean up dog hair from surfaces?

Yes getting hair out of surfaces is a real pain and can take absolutely ages.
I don't know any way other than using a strong hoover on the strongest suction setting then rubbing it all over to try and get hair up.
It is horrible though, that's why many people don't get dog breeds that drop hair everywhere!
