Who was the first person to use the word Catholic to describe the Church?
Question asked by: knowitall

We are not sure who first used the word Catholic, however the first surviving use of the word Catholic is in the letters of Ignatius way back at the start of the second century after the birth of Christ.
It means, roughly, according to the whole and is from the Greek, kata and holos.
