If you are Christian can you be friends with atheists?

For most Christians there would not be a problem being friends with atheists, and anyway in the Western world these days which is more and more secular it would be pretty hard to have many friends at all if you weren't friends with atheists, it wouldn't be good for your friends number on facebook that's for sure.

However for some evangelical Christians or those that have a mission to convert everyone they meet to Christianity then I suppose they would feel some moral compulsion to try and show or convert their atheistic friends to the way.
