Why do models wear such silly looking clothes?

Haha, this one made me laugh!
Yes they do wear ridiculous things that are totally impractical and would never be worn by normal people would they?
I think the answer is that the fashion world likes to be outrageous and push boundaries, and of course live in a fantasy land much removed from normal people due to their creativity. They push each other on to more and more outrageous and impractical clothes and they also know that they can generate more column inches in newspapers too.
