Why do so many people believe in astrology?

This is an interesting question.
Many people seem to want to have something slightly mysterious and supernatural to believe in to make life seem fun and magical, whereas science can seem cold and clinical (even though it often is not).
Many find the idea slightly romantic and like the idea of there being fate and explanations for why what happens does happen, and also to almost place their lives and major life decisions in the hands of others rather than take responsibility for it themselves or to accept that sometimes there is no good reason for what happens happening.
