Are TV jobs based on talent or looks these days?

This is an interesting question about the state of the media world that we now live in.
If you look at the quality of TV show presenters and particularly those that actually need to do interviews or ask questions I think there is little doubt that most are just there because their face fits one way or the other.
Actual talent and ability has little to do with it these days. Sad but true.
