I would also like to know the answer to this question: I remember seeing this before back when I was at school but I can't remember what the answer is now or how to work it out, other than trial and error... is there a better way thatn trial and error of working this out?

No photo yet The value of x for which sin x=log x can be found by plotting a graph of sin x and log x and where the two intersects will be the required value of x . required value is 2.6970(approximately)

Profile image! Yes using Newton's method. Let f(x)=sinx-logx Then use iterative formula x=x-(f(x))/(f'(x))

Profile image! Yes there is! Newton's mathod will work i.e xn+1=xn - f(xn)/f'(xn). Define f(x)= sinx-logx and this will converge to the root for sufficiently close initial guess
