How can I build a garden pond?
Question asked by: knowitall

Building a garden pond is tricky and takes time.
The first thing is to work out the plot of land.
Then mark out with white paint the area you want to dig and take a step back.
Does it look right?
Remember that sheltered spots are best but that if its under a big tree there might be problems digging through roots and also leaves and fruit from the tree falling into the pond which is a pain to clear.
Once the pond is dug, the hard bit, you either buy a ready made pond base or line your own using pond liner.
Ensure that you get it fully watertight and cut the right shape as you don't want to have to do it more than once!
