How can I finish with my girlfriend without hurting her?

This is an age old question that decent people face when a relationship breaks down.
The bottom line is the same though - if they love you then they will be hurt when you finish with them.
Therefore you should try and do it as soon as possible to stop things dragging on and ending up resenting them and them getting more and more attached.
Do it sensitively whilst you are alone and be prepared to answer questions gently and honestly.
