How can when you are born really affect your personality?

Well, this comes down to whether you apply a scientific mind or a so-called open (read non-critical or evaluative mind) to the claims of any system.
In ordinary life we apply critical thinking to opinions, e.g. there is a pink elephant in the corner of the room - most would look for evidence of this. However with astrological claims many people do not look for proof or confirmation and turn a blind eye.
This is known as wanting to believe or self delusion when people ignore evidence against and only point to the small section of evidence for their beliefs.
Science rejects there being any meaningful link between when you are born and your personality.
