Is there life on Mars?

Question asked by: knowitall

Not as far as we know! For years it was thought there were canals on Mars, though this is now known not to be the case.

Mars is similar to earth but today it looks too cold for life to exist on the surface, however it could cluster around hydrothermal vents deep underground or could have existed in the past in microbial form.

Recent exploration suggests it used to be a very different planet to that we see now, with water running on the surface of the planet which would have made life much more possible on the planet. But there could be fossilised life on Mars, if it had time to take hold. Only time and more exploration will give us a definitive answer!
