Out of word and symbolic equation, which is more informative?

Question asked by: badboy

Asked on: 01 Jun 2010

A symbolic equation is more informative than one in words as it provides a visual representation that is easier to understand.

Moving to good maths notation was one of the key enablers in the amazing developments that there have been in maths over the years, it would have been impossible to do this if we needed to use the standard written word to communicate all scientific and mathematical ideas.
