You should go with colours that complement your tones and colouring.
If you brown eyes for instance, then go with shades of brown or perhaps light purples to highlight or accentuate your eyes.
Green colours look good with any sort of eye colours in the main.
Avoid blues which don't tend to go so well, however, and also bright colours such as orange or red.
