How can I create my own pond?

To create your own pond requires planning and thought.

First of all you need to pick the right location for it in your garden, and if you have young children then should consider against it for the moment unless you will be absolutely able to ensure that no-one can fall in by fencing it off for instance.

You need to decide the size of the pond too. When you are digging out remember that tree roots can be impossible to shift so it may be best not to go too near to trees, particularly large ones which can have huge root systems.
