What percentage of tweets are important?

This is an interesting point.
Many people and those in the media deride twitter as a waste of time and just people saying what they had for breakfast and that sort of thing.
Measuring what is important is difficult to say as it is quite subjective, but if twitter did not exist would it affect people's lives in a negative way? If the answer to that is no then 0% would be the answer: if people rely on it to communicate then the figure could be a reasonably healthy percentage!
